Ainola

Ainola is a student and family neighbourhood comprising three blocks of flats and two loft buildings built in 1998. Buildings A, B and C include shared apartments for two, studios and two-room apartments. Buildings D and E include family apartments. It is also important for all of the residents to note that smoking is forbidden on balconies in all of the Ainola buildings. A smoking area and a waste container are provided both in the outdoor area of building C and near the barbecue hut.

The small, but enthusiastic tenant committee now comprises the minimum number of members, i.e., three residents of Ainola. To ensure the continuity of operation, more members are needed and wanted. The membership in the committee is completely voluntary and its meetings have a relaxed atmosphere while discussing possible future plans that contribute to the living comfort of the residents of Ainola. Every year, the committee has organised various events for the residents. The most popular one is the barbecue party, a characteristic happening in Ainola, where the residents are invited to enjoy, for example, sausages and delicious pancakes made over an open fire. The residents can freely use the barbecue hut located in the sand field, in front of building E. The tenant committee is responsible for acquiring firewood for the barbecue hut and it is made available for the residents stored under the benches of the hut and in the bike storeroom located next to the hut.

The energetic tenant committee wants to receive suggestions and ideas from the residents of Ainola in order to make Ainola look like its residents. You can send your suggestions and ideas to the tenant committee by email at ainola@astmk.koas.fi or tell the committee about them by participating in their meetings. It is possible to attend the meetings even though you would not be a member of the committee. You can also come to the meeting just to listen to and enjoy delicacies offered by the tenant committee. We are looking forward to welcome new participants!

By participating in the events organised by the tenant committee you can make new friends among the residents of Ainola. A future goal of the committee is to place a greater focus on new common events now that the common facilities are finally available and usable. The tenant committee also cooperates with the other Koas housing sites and AsuVa (the Cooperation Delegation of Tenant Committees of Koas) so that the residents have a possibility to get to know other students and families crossing the regional boundaries. In Ainola, it is also possible to have sauna together with other residents using the common sauna time slots for women or for men. It is also possible to book private sauna time slots via Koas Booking using booking credits. Ainola has three saunas, located in buildings A, D and E.

Children are an important part of Ainola. In the outdoor area of Ainola, there are various outdoor toys, swings and a slide. Children have also been considered when acquiring equipment to the activity room and when arranging various events. At Christmas parties, children are given a small gift and a surprise present in a fishing game.

On Ainola’s Facebook page, the residents of Ainola can freely discuss various themes and the tenant committee also uses this channel to inform about future events. Link to the group of residents of Ainola: https://www.facebook.com/groups/KOASainola/
